Environmental, Health, and Safety Efforts
At Louisiana Operations, protecting people and the environment is a part of everything we do and every decision we make. We continually strive for a “vision of zero” – zero injuries, zero incidents and zero environmental harm. Our goal is to eliminate all injuries, prevent adverse environmental and health impacts, reduce wastes and emissions and promote resource conservation at every stage of the life cycle of our products.
In addition to reporting our performance to the appropriate local, state and federal officials, we also issue an annual Public Report to the community. This public report tracks our environmental stewardship, social responsibility and economic prosperity efforts, and is a “report card” to the community on our performance.
For more information, please see our latest on-line Public Report.

More than 50 Dow employees leant a hand at the recent Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day. The event was co-sponsored by the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge, Dow Chemical Company, and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Dow, DEQ, and other area recyclers collected fertilizers, pool chemicals, insecticides, pesticides, cleaning products, household cleaners, waste tires, fluorescent light bulbs, used motor oil, computers, paint, and other common household products that contain hazardous materials and should not be disposed in landfills.
